Initial impression - much better than beginning of the season 3, possibly better than 2. Luna not saying a word again, Derpy supposedly spotted somewhere, Discord being awesome, nice comeback to the classic, possible season shaping quest for the mane 6 starting, elimination of "one shot solve it all" plot device in the form of the elements. Yay. Can't wait to see more:)

It looks to me like a premise for season-long adventure, seeking the keys... Hopefully it won't be solved in one or two episodes, but at least several.

Have you noticed the attempts to put a little more perspective/3D/whateveryoumaycallit in there? Looks a little bit awkward to me... Flutters shy 
Other than that, pretty solid season start, I like it.

I just realised something. S1,2,3 took place within a year. In s1 there were 22 episodes every equestrian week. Since lesson zero twi doesn't have to send letter every week. There are total of 59 regular episodes each every week or more. Thus equestrian year is longer than ours. Though if you look at apple family reunion you will see huge mess. To bad dhx doesn't hire geeks as writers like Simpson's do.

Well, the flashback wasn't "real" and it was more Nightmare Moon than Luna anyway;) In all other appearances she stayed completely mute, exactly like 1st season.

In addition - anyone correct me if I am wrong - but in the flashback we see that nopony other than Luna and Celestia was present during the whole moon banishment incident. So basically Luna disappeared overnight without witnesses - I think that the tyrant Celestia theory was never more plausible!

well, bat ponies first appeared in Luna Eclipsed then there were fruit bats in S3 so they are hardly fandom only thing

I rarely pay attention to anything post S1 Luna (S1 Luna was best Luna design) related and fruit bats are hardly ponies are they, I mean, they, can't speak English, they don't have four hoofed limbs and don't have cutie marks (that we are aware of)
